Airing our Dirty Laundry: How to Care for Your Bra

Updated: Oct 8, 2023

Laundry.

Yay.

We all look forward to laundry day just as much as we look forward to the dentist. You know you have to do it, you get your favorite items back, but it's no fun...

So don't be mad when we say we're going to add to your laundry routine...

It's worth it- trust us.

You invested in beautiful underpinnings that fit you to a T. You feel great, you look great- all of it. People keep asking if you've lost weight or started a new exercise routine.

So here it is:

1. You need to hand wash your bras (and delicate underpants).

2. You must never never never put your bras in the dryer.

Hand washing will extend the life of your bras. It doesn't have to be a long, involved process. If you just can't fathom hand washing, at least grab a laundry bag, use the delicate cycle with other delicate items (no jeans... come on now), and

NEVER NEVER NEVER in the dryer.

A best practice if you use the washing machine? Pull your delicate bag out, remove the bras, and hang them over the edge of your hamper while the rest of your laundry dries in the dryer. By the time the dryer is done, everything can go in the hamper for that just dried smell.

We have some great products (we recommend Soak) that take the sting out of hand washing. Soak is no rinse- a cap full in the warm sink water, add bras, swish, leave for 15 minutes (grab a shower, some tea, do a little yoga), pull from the water and hang to dry.

A bit of advice- don't wash all your bras at once. Unless you have a woodstove or sunlight, they might not dry quickly leaving you with your sleep bra as your only dry bra to wear to work. Not that we know from personal experience or anything. Just saying...

Oh, and did we mention no dryer? Just double checking...
